Position: Personnel and Training Officer
Philippine Address: Unit 4 D’Jose Townhomes, Outlook Drive, Baguio City
Employer: Habchi & Chalhoub wll, Kuwait
Zenaida “Zeny E. Batillano has distinguished herself as the only Asian and Filipino in the top management level whose pioneering work, outstanding accomplishments and promotion of positive values have earned for her the esteem and confidence of Kuwait’s Habchi & Chalhoub wll (the owner and managing company of Kuwait Duty Free).
Because of her dynamic leadership and professionalism, Batillano, a personnel and training manager, was able to persuade her employers to hire more Filipinos which now numbers 172 distributed across the various business operations of the Company. The number represents 37% of the Company’s total personnel comprised of 22 nationalities. Moreover, with her recommendation, several Filipinos now occupy supervisory and management positions in the Company. She is an effective Training Manager and would not rest until assured that the participants have understood.
At the peak of the Iraqi conflict in 2003, Batillano was a pillar of courage and strength as she helped out in making preparations and mapping out a contingency plan. Her company provided food and medical supplies and convinced management to shoulder the cost of overseas calls to the families of Filipino employees. Never mind if she lost sleep while overseeing disaster preparations. Batillano’s concern for others has also cascaded to the greater Filipino community in Kuwait where she founded a charitable organization, LINGAP-KAPWA (LINK) in April 2003 which also collaborates with other charitable organizations in Kuwait and the Philippines.
From this year’s 12Bagong Bayani Awardees, Zenaida “Zeny” E. Batillano stands out as the most deserving professional and leader “par excellence”.
