Myrna Barredo

“Y’s men’s woman of courage”

Unperturbed be her circumstances as the lone female and foreign worker hired by the Pusan-based YMCA, this courageous lady chose to trial all odds and adversities in helping distressed compatriots and in pushing for fair and just settlement of their grievances.

Her daily “haggles” with the Pusan Immigration Department, her active networking with different doctors and hospitals for provision of free medical services to Pinoy workers; her creativity and ingenuity in securing favourable decisions for the workers; her efforts to unite Filipinos to work for a common cause – are glaring manifestations how this lady live a life of genuine love and care for others.
