The Filipino crew of MT Nichihiko were nominated for their effort to save “Crew Life” and prevent “Hull Damage” by Master and all crew member’s teamwork during the unprecedented earthquake and tsunami in Japan on 11th March 2011.

The Officers and Crew of MT Nichihiko deserve the award for their Heroism and competence as seafarer that saved lives and property and prevented major destruction of the ocean’s environment.

A Commendation presented to the Master of Nichihiko and all crew members for the hard effort to save “Crew Life” and prevent “Hull Damage” by Master and all crew member’s teamwork during the unprecedented earthquake and tsunami in Japan on 11 March 2011, was presented by Masao Miyakawa, President of Nissho Shipping Co. Ltd., on June 2011.
