Employer: MV Royal Princess
“THE DRUG-BUSTING DUO”
Because of honesty and courage of two Filipino sailors, an international drug smuggling syndicate using sea vessels in transporting their illegal products from one country-point to another was busted.
GPA crew cleaner Federico Tinampay and stateroom steward Francisco Daganas were lauded not only by their ship captain, but also by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Force after they reported the loading of cocaine worth millions of dollars aboard the MV Royal Princess then docked at the Montego Bay in Jamaica. They witnessed this incident and were offered huge amount of money for their silence. Upon reaching their destination at Fort Lauderdale, authorities escorted the smugglers off the ship.
Both Tinampay and Daganas were given plaques of appreciation, cash rewards and recommendations for promotion.
