A modern day Jose Rizal, Dr. Malagapo is a respected educator, and a man of vision. His initiation of an MBA and Doctorate Degree courses in the Middle East as Dean and Professor for a recognized university in the Philippines has given opportunities of an actual mentoring received by his students. Dr. Malagapo’s effort in establishing the Philippine Christian University Graduate Extension Program being offered in the Middle East, has been an excellent advance learning facility that yields an outstanding contribution to all his students/professionals manifested by enhancing performance in their workplace making the Filipinos to be more efficient and competitive in the global market.
In 1995, the Nominee established the second and third schools in the same region. The second school, named the Philippine Community School in Al-Khobar (PhilCoSA), was organized together with four other partners to comprise the Board of Trustees. The school started with 104 students, but now has an enrolment of 420 studies. The school’s vision and mission is to strive, to serve and to succeed. This vision helps the school in transforming their students to entrepreneurs, corporate employees, executives and managers. Simultaneously, the school helps the Filipino community in the area through the use of their facilities for training seminars and workshops.
The significant contributions of the nominee to the OFW concerns is not only in ensuring education of their children but also bringing board examinations to Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Middle East through the Philippine Professional Organizations. It was in 1997 that the first board examinations for Professional Mechanical Engineers was initiated and organized by the Nominee. Then the board exams for the Registered Mechanical Engineers followed. In 2008, then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed a manifesto that year board examinations will be conducted in the Middle East.
The Nominee has also been responsible in bringing graduate studies to the region, including the Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master in Management major in Educational Management (MM-EM) and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhP) in Business Management and Development Administration. To date the education initiatives of the Nominee have yielded at least 80 MBA and MM graduates and 12 PhD in Business Management. The beneficiaries of graduate studies come from as far as Bahrain, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia, with locations in Al-Khobar and Jeddah.
