2012 was a very significant year for Mr. ARNEL TINDAN CORPUZ, for it is on this year when he decided to leave his employment to establish a company in order to support and prepare Filipino workers for entry into the Australian workplace. At the 2012 Australian Cattle Lot-Feeders Conference he was chosen to present to 1,000 attendees, a paper that highlighted the role of the Filipinos in the cattle industry and their positive contribution to both Australia and the Philippines. Likewise at the BeefEx 2012 in Gold Coast, Queensland, Mr. Corpuz had the distinct privilege of being the only Asian to be invited in the event, where he spoke on the adaptation process of migrant workers in Australia. In his speech entitled, “A Word From Within,” he shared his personal experience as a migrant worker and how he was able to manage integrating himself into the Australian society.
Consistent with his generous and having the full trust and confidence of Australian employers, Mr. Corpuz facilitated the employment of 28 skilled Filipino workers with reputable Australian employers. He mentored and helped them be mentally, psychologically and culturally prepared about Australia and its cattle industry, as well as arranged trainings to further their skills and ensure their competency. He also created a support network for them during the integration process by providing the necessary material and moral support, including a contingency fund for the families left behind in the Philippines, in cases of emergencies. For a wholistic support system, he gave them advises on savings, investment and other financial literacy.
Mr. Corpuz is also an ardent supporter of the youth. He would prioritize and place youth empowerment and education in the heart of his agenda. Whenever he was invited to give inspirational talks to the Business College students, his sharings would focus on how to bridge the gap between lessons learned in the academe and the actual work environment. He would also assist the academe in preparing their graduates in responding to the competency needs of the different companies both in Australia and in other countries.
Mr. CORPUZ is a worthy recipient of the “Bagong Bayani Award for Community and Social Service” for being instrumental in paving the way for fellow Filipinos to have gainful employment that improved their lives at the same time giving the Australian employers experience the skill and competence of Filipino workers.
